    (Flee Sexual Immorality!!)

Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. 1 Cor. 6:18 NIV

Our society has been very effective in reducing sex to a mere biological act for immediate gratification.  It is no surprise that we live in a very sex-saturated society. Sexual images, content, and innuendos are seen and heard constantly in music, commercials, magazines, billboards, newspaper adverts, movies, internet sites, books, etc. Sex is everywhere because industry giants have learned that “sex sells.” So today, it is normal to have a song that says nothing about love or sex, but the singers and dancers in the video are half-naked. Unfortunately, many Christians have fallen into the trap of believing, sex outside of marriage is acceptable, and holding back is outdated.

Admittedly, it can sometimes be difficult to escape the pervasive sexual messages our society promotes. As hard as it may be, Christians need to elevate sex back to the level that God intended; a blissful, beautiful, and holy experience designed to be enjoyed only between a husband and wife. And it can start with you. I am calling on young men and women filled with the Holy Spirit to say no to any form of self-gratification. Yes, we can!!!

God’s Word is very clear about fornication (sex outside of marriage). “Flee sexual immorality”, it says. We are designed to enjoy the wonderful experience of sexual intimacy within the confines of marriage as indicated earlier. The Greek word for “flee” in the above passage is an exaggerated form of the word “repent” that means to turn and run from something – “run in the other direction” or “walk in the other direction.”

At the premarital stage when the intention of marriage has been made, couples find themselves in a special period in their life as they carefully plan their life together and prepare for the day when they become husband and wife. This phase of their relationship calls for great caution on their part, particularly concerning sexual matters. This is because sexual temptation could be heightened at this stage.

Watch out for Part 3 of the continuation of this series!
